Hye-Yun is a world-class harpist and pianist with an impressive career spanning over 50 years of performing and teaching. She is available for performing and teaching engagements and is currently based in Florida's Gold Coast, where she also serves as pianist at Trinity United Methodist Church in Jensen Beach.

Hye-Yun enamors audiences around the world with her captivating harp and piano performances. She earned the honor of becoming the first harp major in her home country of South Korea at Ewha Womans University.

In 1972, shortly after completing her bachelor's degree, Hye-Yun moved to Pasadena, California, where she met renowned harpist and pedagogue Susann McDonald. After hearing her play, McDonald encouraged her to enter the Fifth International Harp Competition in Jerusalem — where Hye-Yun was honored as an award winner the following year, launching her international career. McDonald, widely regarded as one of the most influential harp teachers in the world, remained a guiding presence throughout Hye-Yun's development as an artist; the two later worked together again when Hye-Yun served as her teaching assistant while pursuing a doctoral degree in Music at the University of Arizona.

She went on to earn her Master's from Cal State LA, complete the Professional Study Plan at Juilliard, and study piano pedagogy under Robert Pace at Columbia University.

Debuting at Carnegie Recital Hall in New York City in 1979, she earned rave reviews from the New York Times:

A recipient of numerous honors, awards, and scholarships, Hye-Yun Chung Bennett has given recitals throughout Europe, Japan, the U.S., and Korea. She was on the Young Artists' roster under the auspices of the American Harp Society Young Artist program, performing solo recitals in major cities across the U.S., and represented the Young Audiences of Virginia as a solo artist performing throughout Hampton Roads for K-12 schools.

Hye-Yun remains an active member of the Music Teachers National Association (MTNA) and the American Harp Society (AHS) and is a Nationally Certified Teacher of Music (NCTM).

Hye-Yun Chung Bennett was Assistant Professor of harp and piano at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge. She was also a faculty member of the Brevard Music Center for the Summer Music Festival in Brevard, North Carolina. She has taught at the International Summer Music Camp in Seoul, Korea and Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp in Michigan.

She has served as a judge for the National Harp Competitions in Los Angeles, California, St. Paul, Minnesota and Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Hye-Yun Chung has also been an adjudicator for piano competitions. In July 2008 and 2012, Ms. Bennett judged the Young Artist's Harp Competition in Rabun Gap, GA.

In 1996, Klavier International Records Co. produced a CD album, “Musical Colors,” featuring Hye-Yun Chung Bennett on the harp with Wayne Hedrick on the flute. She made her debut solo harp album of “French Impressionist Harp Music” on a recording by Centaur Record Company. Prior to this, the Musical Heritage Society produced several recordings of her performances with the New York Harp Ensemble.

Bennett has performed as principal harpist and appeared as a soloist with many different symphony orchestras in the US and Korea. Ms. Chung premiered 'Sori for Harp,' which was written and dedicated to her by Dr. Byong Kon Kim in Israel. In 1987, she also premiered 'Genteel Dialogue' by Dr. Dinos Constantinides of LSU at Carnegie Recital Hall, earning favorable reviews by the New York Times. She played under the direction of Aaron Copland performing his composition at the Carnegie Hall in 1979.

Hye-Yun performed a recital as a guest artist at the sixth World Harp Congress in Seattle in 1996. She was a soloist for the North Carolina Bach Festival in Raleigh. Ms. Bennett was a solo residence artist for the Young Audiences of Virginia for kindergarten through 12th grade.

Ms. Bennett was an adjunct professor teaching harp and piano at Old Dominion University in Norfolk, VA. She was also an Adjunct Faculty member at Tidewater Community College in Applied Music. From 2001 to 2015, Hye-Yun was the official pianist at the Calvary Baptist Church in Portsmouth, Virginia. She has also had the joy of speaking with Barbara Walters on “The Today Show,” sharing the stage with Josh Groban, and performing for a former First Lady!

After a whirlwind of taking her career from Virginia, to Yokohama, Japan, then Washington, DC, Hye-Yun now continues her passion of teaching and performing in Stuart, Florida.
